Customer Testimonials

Dear Liz,

Just a few lines to tell you what a wonderful holiday I had in Ireland on the Mystical Tour. I really enjoyed every moment of it. Such a nice group of folks and so friendly. Our guide and driver, Michael, was excellent, very informative and helpful. I learnt so many more things about Ireland and the people in one week, much better than the books I had read. I have so many happy memories of the tour, we were also very lucky with the weather, and shall certainly look forward to another trip in the future and will certainly recommend your tours to my friends.
Thank you again for all your help.
Very best wishes,

Thelma Roe., Pistoia Italy

Visit the Boyne Valley Visitor Centre to learn about the burial tombs of Newgrange and Knowth, both of which are over 5,000 years old and visit one of the tombs. Newgrange was constructed over 5,000 years ago (about 3,200 B.C.), making it older than Stonehenge in England and the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Newgrange was built during the Neolithic Age by a farming community that prospered on the rich lands of the Boyne Valley. Knowth and Dowth are similar mounds that together with Newgrange have been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Archaeologists classified Newgrange as a passage tomb, however, Newgrange is now recognised to be much more than a passage tomb. Ancient Temple is a more fitting classification, a place of astrological, spiritual, religious and ceremonial importance, much as present day cathedrals are places of prestige and worship where dignitaries may be laid to rest.

The Great Mound at Knowth is similar in size to Newgrange and is surrounded by 18 smaller satellite mounds.
