Customer Testimonials

Dear Tina,

We did enjoy Ireland very much, what a beautiful country and what lovely people! The weather was lovely too, that helped
The tour was excellent! It was the perfect way to see the best of Ireland indeed and to get a good impression of the country.

Your choice of accommodation was excellent, very nice rooms and friendly staff everywhere. In particular the managers of the guesthouse in Killarney and the B&B in Galway gave it a personal touch!

Thanks again for your itinerary and great service. We'd recommend the tour to anyone who wants to visit Ireland for the first time. We left with fond memories of Irish hospitality, stunning countryside, folk music and, of course, guiness & whiskey

Best wishes and kind regards,

Hanneke Blijham, Netherlands

Lisselan Gardens were laid out in Robinsonian stryle from the early 1850’s. William Bence-Jones chose a site on a promontory above the river for a French chateau style house designed by Lewis Vuliamy. The Bence-Jones family created 30 acres of gardens which take advantage of the natural features and contours provided by the valley and the Argideen River running through it.

The gardens are much as they were in their Edwardian hay day containing many spectacular features such as an azalea garden, rockery, Japanese maple, rose wreathed pergola, water garden, and a rhododendron garden. The shrubbery contains mature pines, spruce, holly and more unusual plants including acacia, myrtle, eucalyptus, Robinia and Judas tree. A series of flagstone pathways and rustic bridges add ambience and character to the gardens.

Many unusual plants not generally associated with the local geographical region have been planted in Robinsonian style to provide year round interest and colour.

The gardens are open daily from 8a.m. – Dusk. Guided Tours can be arranged with our head gardener Mr. John Bevan. Entrance per person is €6.00, a senior is €5.00 and we also offer reductions for group rates.

For anyone that is not an avid gardening fan we also offer golf on one of the country’s finest 9 hole courses.

Lisselan Golf Club:

In 2004, Lisselan Golf Club was formed with the course open to green fees and members, seven days a week. The new par 72 layout (nine holes played from different tee boxes) consists of 4 par 5, 4 par 3 and 10 par 4 holes.

The course meanders around the majestic Lisselan Gardens, with the trout filled Argideen River flowing through. The golf course has trams to add to your golfing experience. Without any doubt, this surely adds to the challenge that awaits.

A comment in our visitors’ book describes it as “A truly unique experience!” It has also been described, in a Golf magazine “If Hans Christian Anderson ever built a golf course this is where he would have set it!”

Open to Members and Visitors Daily from 8am—dusk all year round.

Booking is essential. Club Hire is available.
