Customer Testimonials

Tina:

Franci and I had a wonderful time in Ireland and the tour you arranged for us was great. The castles were incredible and the hotels were top notch. The country was even more beautiful than we had imagined and the people everywhere were very friendly. We left wishing we had more time in Ireland—but now we can just plan on coming back.

For me, the high point of the trip was a Saturday morning 8 mile guided hike through the mountains at Ashford Castle. There were 5 of us on the hike. We hope to take another tour with you. I am thinking of the literary tour of Dublin.

Cross Strangford Lough by ferry to visit Mount Stewart House and Gardens. This property, home to Lord Castlereagh during Napoleonic times, contains portraits and furnishings. The extensive gardens, with a wide range of plant types, are considered among the best in the country.

The famous gardens at Mount Stewart were planted in the 1920s by Edith, Lady Londonderry, and are of international importance. The magnificent series of outdoor 'rooms' and vibrant parterres contain many rare plants that thrive in the mild climate of the Ards Peninsula.

The house tour includes paintings and stories about the prominent political figures to whom the Londonderry family played host.

The House & Gardens are popular for many reasons, which include: Former home to a fascinating array of political leaders and society figures World famous painting of ‘Hambletonian’ by George Stubbs Remarkable embroidered chairs used at the Congress of Vienna in 1815 Famous gardens of international importance European Garden of Inspiration 2003 Formal gardens of clipped topiary, statuary and magnificent colour schemes Picturesque lake surrounded by beautiful swathes of woodland Dramatic views across Strangford Lough from the Temple of the Winds New garden shop
