Highlights of your Self Led Cycling Tour In Ireland:

This independent tour covers some of the most spectacular scenery that Ireland has to offer. Shortly after leaving Killarney you will find yourself cycling between the majestic lakes that have made this area so famous. before long you will begin the climb up to Moll's Gap with its wonderful views of Macgillycuddy's Reeks, Ireland's highest mountain range. The rest of the week involves more stunning scenery with a wonderful coastal cycle along Kenmare Bay and the twisted mountains of the Beara Peninsula. On the rest of the day relax in the pretty fishing village of Schull where you can visit beautiful Cape Clear Island and look out at the distant Fastnet Rock, while enjoying that real sense of being away from it all that you can only experience on a small island. Towards the end of the week head inland and stay at a beautiful lakeside retreat at the source of the River Lee. On the final day cycle up over the wild and isolated hills of the Coolea region before returning to Killarney.

Your Cycling Tour Itinerary:
Day 1. Arrival in Killarney - Check into your accommodation and relax ahead of your tour.
Day 2. Magillycuddy's Reeks to Kenmare - Set out on a cycle lane, which winds through Muckross National Park. In the afternoon, climb the road in the shadow of Macgillycuddy's Reeks, before you freewheel down to the coastal village of Kenmare, where you stay the night.
Day 3. The Beara Peninsula - Leave Kerry by cycling along the coast road of the remote Beara Peninsula, where you will stay in the fishing port of Castletownbere.
Day 4. Bantry Bay to Schull - After a morning cycle to Glengariff, you have the option of taking a boat to Garinish Island for lunch before continuing across Bantry Bay. Once in Bantry continue your cycle to the seaside village of Schull where you will be based for two nights.
Day 5. Cape Clear Island or Mount Gabriel - One could take a day trip to Cape Clear Island by boat, Mizen Head by bike, Mount Gabriel by foot or else stay close to your hotel and relax for the day.
Day 6. Gougane Barra - Cycle inland to your hotel in Gougane Barra, which is in isolated splendour, over-looking the lake in this dramatic glacial valley.
Day 7. Return to Killarney - Heading homeward on little-known roads with swimming stops in river pools along the way. You return to Killarney for a final evening meal and a night on the town.
Day 8. Departure Day - After breakfast you are free to head home or to remain in Ireland for a few more days - we would be delighted to arrange accommodation for any additional nights.

€675 per person for 7 nights Tour (July & August)
These tours can start at any day of the week, the only exception is a Saturday when a group tour is operating on the same route. The bike and route details will be waiting for you in your first night's accommodation.
 
 
Special Features of Your Cycling Tour In Ireland

*Accommodation is based on a twin sharing basis. Due to the isolated nature of some of our locations, we cannot guarantee the availability of single room accommodation. In exceptional cases we may be able to provide a single room at a supplement of €250.00 for the week.
Additional Accommodation: We would be delighted to arrange for any number of extra nights' accommodation either prior to the commencement or following your tour. Please include your requirements for extra nights when completing the 'Check Availability' form.
Distances: The average cycling distance is an easy 30m (45km) with longer routes being available each day. The safaris are suitable for adults of all ages, but a certain level of fitness is required and taking in a few practice rides is strongly recommended. The tours are not suited for children under 13 years of age. The Ring of Kerry, the Highlands of Donegal and the Antrim tours have more hills than the other routes and are more suited to the keener cyclist.
Meals: You can make a lunch stop each day where a snack lunch will cost between €7 and €10. Evening meals are available at restaurants and also pubs where good food is served. Typical cost is around €18 to €25. One evening meal during the tour is included in the tour price.
Your Bicycle: We supply 18-21 speed hybrid touring models for your tour. Each booking must give your name and approximate height. Repair equipment, helmets and pannier bags are available on request.
Insurance: There is an additional charge of €35 for insurance cover. We insist that riders avail of our insurance policy or else have alternative cover in place.
