Your Cycling Tour Itinerary:
Day 1. Arrival in Cork City - As with each of our tours, the week starts with a meeting of the group at 6.30pm, in a hotel close to the centre of Cork City.
Day 2. On the banks of the River Lee - We follow a backroad along the entire course of the River Lee to our hotel in beautiful Gougane Barra.
Day 3. Sheep's Head Peninsula - We head South to the undiscovered Sheep's Head peninsula where we stay in farmhouses close to the village of Ahakista.
Day 4. The Mizen Peninsula - We cycle onto the Mizen Peninsula in the morning and the village of Schull. After lunch you can either cycle the coast road or else take a ferry across Roaringwater Bay (it is usually quite calm!) to visit Sherkin Island and then take a later ferry into the village of Baltimore.
Day 5. Baltimore Village - Baltimore is a lovely village to potter around for the day or else you can take off to explore the nearby islands and countryside.
Day 6. Clonakilty - We cycle on, hugging the West Cork coast, as far as Clonakilty, birthplace of the revolutionary leader Michael Collins.

Day 7. The Town of Kinsale - We hug the coast road all the way to the village of Timoleague for lunch, home to an old Franciscan Friary. In the afternoon we continue on the coast to the historic town of Kinsale where we stay the night.

Day 8. Return to Cork City - Departure Day - In the morning you are free to make your own way back to Cork City which is 18 miles away.

Distances: The average cycling distance is an easy 30m (45km) with longer routes being available each day. The safaris are suitable for adults of all ages, but a certain level of fitness is required and taking in a few practice rides is strongly recommended. The tours are not suited for children under 13 years of age. The Ring of Kerry, the Highlands of Donegal and the Antrim tours have more hills than the other routes and are more suited to the keener cyclist.
Meals: Your guide will recommend a lunch stop each day where a snack lunch will cost between €7 and €10. A group evening meal is also organised by your guide each night which costs €18 and €25. One evening meal during the tour is included in the tour price.
Your Bicycle: We supply 18-21 speed hybrid touring models for your tour. Each booking must give your name and approximate height. Repair equipment, helmets and pannier bags are available on request.
Starting Times: Each of the tours start with a meeting group at 6:30pm on the Saturday evening in a central hotel close to the local train station and bus station. This is only a meeting point, typically the group will be staying in nearby guesthouses. The guide is able to return to the meeting place at 9:30pm again that evening and the following morning for those arriving late. After an introductory talk the guide will organise an evening meal and direct you to your first nights accommodation.
Insurance: There is an additional charge of €35 for insurance cover. We insist that riders avail of our insurance policy or else have alternative cover in place.
