This
tour explores the beautiful region of Connemara
famous for its rugged granite landscapes as well
as its beautiful lakes and rivers. The route offers
an incredible variety of scenery each day. In the
morning you can be cycling along beautiful coastline
while in the afternoon you could be on a quiet bog
road with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
On our rest day we stay in a lovely family run hotel
in the charming seaside village of Roundstone before
heading towards the Irish speaking village of Carraroe.
The tour finishes up with a visit to the Aran Islands.
Your
Cycling Tour Itinerary:
Day 1. Arrival in Galway -Check
into your accommodation and relax ahead of your tour.
Day 2. From Galway to Westport
- Take a coach
transfer to the village of Cong, after which the roads
are traffic free. Follow a stunning route around Lough
Mask to the busy market town of Westport.
Day 3. Croagh Patrick to Leenane
- Cycle west
between the pilgrimage mountain of Croagh Patrick
and Clew Bay before heading south through the dramatic
Delphi valley to the village of Leenane.
Day 4. Connemara to Roundstone
- Set out on
the coast road, but then head inland across the open
bogland of the Connemara National Parkfor a two-day
stop in the seaside village of Roundstone.
Day 5. Dogs Bay Beach- Dogs Bay beach, is
we think one of the most beautiful beaches in the
world.
Day 6. Irish Speaking Village
of Carraroe -
Continue cycling alongside fields of bog and stone
to the Irish-speaking village of Carraroe..
Day 7. The Aran Islands - There is an option
to take the morning ferry to the Aran Islands, which
you can explore for the day, before taking a return
ferry and bus into Galway City that evening.
Day 8. Departure Day- After breakfast you
are free to head home or to remain in Ireland for
a few more days - we would be delighted to arrange
accommodation for any additional nights.

These
tours can start at any day of the week,
the only exception is a Saturday when a
group tour is operating on the same route.
The bike and route details will be waiting
for you in your first night's accommodation.

*Accommodation is based on
a twin sharing basis. Due to the isolated nature of
some of our locations, we cannot guarantee the availability
of single room accommodation. In exceptional cases
we may be able to provide a single room at a supplement
of €250.00 for the week.
Additional Accommodation:
We would be delighted to arrange for any number
of extra nights' accommodation either prior to the
commencement or following your tour. Please include
your requirements for extra nights when completing
the 'Check Availability' form.
Distances:
The average cycling distance is an easy 30m (45km)
with longer routes being available each day. The
tours are suitable for adults of all ages and fitness
levels, but the tours are not suited for children
under 13 years of age.
Meals:
You can make a lunch stop each day where a snack
lunch will cost between €7 and €10.
Evening meals are available at restaurants and also
pubs where good food is served. Typical cost is
around €15 to €20.
Your Bicycle:
We supply 21 speed hybrid touring models for your
tour. Each booking must give your name and approximate
height. Repair equipment, helmets and pannier bags
are available on request.
Insurance:
There is an additional charge of €30 for insurance
cover. We insist that riders avail of our insurance
policy or else have alternative cover in place.
