Ronan Great Job on the Tour! Our family had a great time and was treated so well. Hotels/ itinerary and especially the tour service - Second to none. Michael Prendergast; our tour driver was exceptional. He worked so well with the shortened trip to ensure we saw everything that would give the most thorough view of what Ireland had to offer and than some. The hotels were great and the Staff we met were very helpful and thoughtful. If you need any documentation or survey I would be happy to fill it out. Thank you again and all the best. Glin Castle, one of Ireland’s most historic properties, has been in the FitzGerald family, hereditary Knights of Glin, for over 700 years. The castle with its superb interiors, decorative plasterwork, and collections of Irish furniture and paintings, stands on the bank of the River Shannon surrounded by formal gardens and parkland and in the middle of 500 acres of wood and dairy farm. One hour’s drive from Shannon airport, half an hour from Ballybunion championship golf course and within easy reach of three other such courses, including the new Greg Norman links course, Doonbeg.
The Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula and the wonders of Co Clare including the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren (via the nearby car ferry) make Glin a superb centre for exploring southwest Ireland. We offer the best in Irish Country House cuisine, using fresh vegetables and fruit from the beautifully kept walled kitchen garden, locally produced meat and poultry and freshly caught fish. Hard tennis court and croquet lawn are in the gardens. Clay pigeon shooting and archery can be arranged on site. Glin village, which boasts the most traditional pub in Ireland, is at the front gate.
The castle has four Deluxe rooms, six Superior rooms and five Standard rooms. Each deluxe room has both river and garden views. Superior and Standard rooms are situated in either the old Castle Wing or the third floor. Each bedroom has its own unique bathroom. All of the bedrooms and their bathrooms differ from each other in layout, style and decor. There is no lift at Glin Castle.
