REVIEW
There is little doubt that Galgorm Manor is one of the finest country
house hotels in Ireland and is the perfect location to get away
from it all. As a golfing base from which to play the likes of Royal
Portrush, Portstewart and Castlerock, it is unrivalled, with no
less than six top golf courses within an hours drive. Six self-catering
cottages on the grounds, fully fitted to the highest standards and
ideal for larger groups and families, complement the 24 spacious
bedrooms in the hotel itself.
Whether at the end of a day on the golf course,
exploring the surrounding countryside or simply relaxing in the
hotel, guests may enjoy a drink in either the comfortable but
informal Club Bar or the more adventurous Gillies Bar, located
to the rear of the hotel. Galgorm Manor also offers a choice of
dining venues. The main dining room offers a choice of table d'hôte
or à la Carte menus in a luxurious but relaxed atmosphere,
with local produce the order of the day, while the Boardroom,
with superb wood paneling and magnificent table, is ideal for
private dining. For lighter eating, a full bar menu is available
in the Gillies Bar.
Set in some of Northern Ireland's most beautiful
lush scenery, the River Maine runs thick and fast no more than
100 yards from the main entrance. With the hotel holding fishing
rights over this stretch of river, reputed to be one of the finest
for brown trout, this is also a fisherman's haven. So get your
waders out and wander into the middle of the Maine at the weir,
cast your fly and wait for that elusive bite.
