ACCOMMODATION
REVIEW
Don't be afraid - you won't be wrapped in cellophane, covered in
seaweed or starved to death at the Lodge and Spa at Inchydoney.
The philosophy here is to provide an environment of comfort and
well being, where relaxation is a primary service feature, in a
uniquely beautiful environment. Clonakilty by the way (and Inchydoney
in particular) is one of the most picturesque locations in Ireland,
beautifully endowed with white sandy beaches and ideal as a base
from which to tour and explore the beautiful region of West Cork.
Central to the Lodge and Spa at Inchydoney
is its excellent thalassotherapy (sea water therapy) centre. Thalassotherapy
involves the medical use of heated seawater to restore health
and vitality, while the theory behind it, is that fresh seawater
heated to a specific temperature opens the pores and causes an
exchange of minerals between the blood and seawater. Using water
pumped directly from the sea the thalassotherapy centre at the
Lodge and Spa is divided into private rooms with sophisticated
equipment such as aeromarine baths, seawater jets, algae application,
shower massage and physiotherapy, to name but a few. Other facilities
include a steam room, sauna, fully equipped gymnasium and beauty
clinic.
Quite aside from its scenic location and health
facilities, there are plenty of other reasons to stay at the Lodge
and Spa. The cuisine served in the "Gulfstream" and
"Contented Plaice" restaurants puts paid to the popular
misconception that you have to starve yourself and abandon all
thoughts of enjoying food to stay slim, trim and healthy, while
the accommodation is also second to none, with 20 fully fitted
apartments overlooking the beach, complimenting the 67 rooms of
the Lodge itself.
