REVIEW
Situated in the heart of the city, the contemporary Morrison Hotel
combines sophistication with conviviality and is the perfect expression
of modern Dublin. Incorporating an original 18th century Georgian
Townhouse façade, the Morrison faces directly onto the River
Liffey just below the famous Halfpenny Bridge. The building is in
keeping with existing structures along the quays, while its base
of Portuguese limestone and gray granite is punctuated with large
windows, which fill the Morrison Bar and Halo Restaurant with natural
light.
As you enter the Morrison, the interior unfolds
into a series of interlocking volumes from the reception into
the double height restaurant and lounges. Internally, the building
is organized in a U shape, while the high ceiling lobby, characterised
by natural light, stone floors, timber paneling and handcrafted
carpets, creates a striking impression on the first time visitor.
The Morrison comprises six levels, including four levels of accommodation,
which offer some of the finest, most modern bedrooms in Dublin.
All rooms are equipped with every imaginable facility, including
CD player, private bar, air conditioning and ISDN facilities.
The spacious Morrison Bar, located on the ground
floor of the hotel overlooking the River Liffey, blends excellent
design with the utmost in comfort, and is popular with guests
and locals alike. Offering fusion style cooking, the renowned
Halo Restaurant, washed by ever-changing light and shade from
its atrium setting, provides a new culinary experience, while
the Lobo Bar, featuring a taste of the Orient in a dramatic environment,
has a private club feel and offers a late night bar until 3:00am.
