REVIEW
The Slieve Russell Hotel, which takes its name from the nearby Slieve
Rushen, is set amidst a private 300-acre parkland estate, which
comprises some 50 acres of lakes. The hotel was officially opened
in 1990 and is renowned for combining the best of Irish hospitality
with the finest modern comforts. Slieve Russell is today recognised
as one of Ireland's finest hotels and its golf course is regarded
as one of the best new inland courses in Ireland.
With its blazing fires, the hotel lobby suitably
represents the luxury that awaits you inside the rest of the hotel.
The graciously appointed guestrooms are designed to incorporate
every modern comfort and each is impeccably furnished with spacious
en-suite bathrooms. There are a number of fine restaurants and
bars on the premises, including The Kells Bar, which has been
specially designed to incorporate some magnificent illustrations
from the famous Book of Kells. As a golfing hotel, the Slieve
Russell has few peers and within a relatively short period of
time, the course is already being compared to some of the great
courses worldwide.
In addition to the comprehensive facilities
available in the hotel and on the adjoining grounds, a whole host
of activities and attractions can enjoyed within the immediate
area. The Cavan area has a long-established reputation as one
of Europe's premier fishing locations with it's numerous lakes
and rivers, while guests may cruise on the Shannon-Erne Waterway
or visit Killykeen Forest Park, a natural reserve of staggering
beauty with its forest-clad islands and interwoven lakes. Visits
to the Marble Arch Caves, Belleek Pottery, Castle Coole and Cavan
Crystal should be also be undertaken as a matter of course.
