A quality 18th century manor, Waterville House, which sits on a
forty-acre estate overlooking the rugged Atlantic Ocean, is home
to Ireland's most famous sea trout and salmon fishery and is the
perfect base for play at Waterville Golf Links. Waterville itself
of course, is renowned worldwide for its famous championship links,
which has been played by most of the world's golfing legends, including
Tom Watson, Tiger Woods, Mark O'Meara and the late Payne Stewart.
Apart from its inherent comfort and charm,
Waterville House boasts ten beautifully appointed bedrooms. Guests
can relax in the bar or take the opportunity to unwind in comfort
in the hotel's sauna, steam room and outdoor heated pool. The
hotel also has a unique private golf practice facility, where
golfers are free to hone their games prior to tackling the beast
that is Waterville Links. Located in the grounds, is one of Ireland's
most famous salmon & trout fisheries. Guests may fish at their
leisure and it is the perfect way to unwind following the rigours
on the golf course.
Also renowned as a fishing destination, Waterville
provides an excellent base for many coastal and inland tours.
Situated on the Ring of Kerry, the surrounding panoramas are truly
breathtaking, while some eight miles out to sea is Skellig Rock,
the site of one of the world's finest examples of early Christian
monastic architecture. Boat trips to the Skelligs can be arranged
nearby, while an on-site interpretative centre explains what life
was like on the island. A visit to Staigue Fort, an ancient stone
ring fort, which commands great views, is also recommended.
