Guided Walking Tours of Ireland - The Dingle Peninsula - Tour Ref : DP
The Dingle PeninsulaHighlights of your Walking Tour In Ireland:

- The Dingle Peninsula boasts the highest concentration of archeological sites in Ireland.
- The rugged beauty of the area was immortalised in the movie 'Ryan's Daughter'.
- Fishing village of Dingle with its 50 pubs, craft shops, restaurants and Fungi the Dolphin.
- Thriving Gaelic culture and language.
- The most westerly point of Europe.
This walking tour is devised as a perfect introduction to the spectacular scenery of the ancient barony of Corca Dhuibhne (Corkaguiney). Gaelic culture is alive and the Gaelic language is still spoken in the homes at the western end of the peninsula. The walks are spread throughout its length, allowing you to sample the hills that make up its spines, as well as some of the many beaches. Routes, with a variety of ground underfoot, can be from 10 to 20 km (6 to 13 miles) each day. This week long 2 centre tour is based in Tralee, the county town, and at an inn in the peaceful seaside village of Cloghane. The option day allows for a tour of the wonderful fishing harbour town of Dingle.
Your Walking Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival
18.30 hrs. Dinner/welcome briefing with guide - Staying in Tralee for 2 nights.
Day 2: Dingle Way (Tonevane to Derrymore) - Distance: 8.5km/5.3miles*. Ascent: 50m/165ft
A gentle walk, on the slopes of the Slieve Mish mountains, overlooking the wildbird sanctuary of Tralee Bay, and ending at Derrymore Strand.
Day 3: Annascaul Glen to Glennahoo - Distance: 11.5km/7.25miles. Ascent: 395m/1,300ft
Two valleys (and contrasting views) for the price of one! From the legend-filled Annascaul Glen, a zig-zag track rises over a saddle (col) of Maghanaboe and descends into Glennahoo.
Day 4: Dingle Way (Ventry to Slea Head) - Distance: 10.5km/6.5miles*. Ascent: 190m/625ft
Through landscape littered with archeological sites, walk over the rocky shores of Dingle Bay to the Atlantic Ocean. The spectacular scenery of Slea Head and Dunquin ("the nearest parish to America") has been captured in many movies. *An extra 3km/2miles will take you to Dunmore Head, the most westerly point in Ireland, marked by an ogham stone.
Day 5: Option Day
You can spend a lazy day around Cloghane. Alternatively, you can take a taxi to Dingle town to visit the craft shops, sample the famous restaurants and pubs or call on Fungi, Dingle's own dolphin.
Day 6: Dingle Way (Brandon Creek, Brandon Village) - Distance: 12.5km/8miles. Ascent: 650m/2,125ft
An old military road leads from Brandon Creek (from where St Brendan sailed to America), crossing the Brandon Ridge at the saddle of Masatiompan, before descending by the abandoned village of Arraglen to the fishing village of Brandon.
Day 7 Dingle Way (The Northern Beaches) - Distance: up to 20km/12.5miles. Ascent: 50m/165ft
A leisurely coastal walk - three beaches, two medieval church ruins, one wildbird sanctuary - on a walk that can be shortened or lengthened to suit you and the day.
