Cardiff Castle is located in Wales and is one of the country’s leading heritage attractions and is a place of international importance. Cardiff is the capital of Wales and the castle is located amongst the beautiful parklands. The history of Cardiff Castle dates back well over 2000 years, it was once used for the Romans and also a Norman stronghold and a masterpiece of Victorian Gothic architecture.
The castle passed by many noble families until 1766 and was passed down to the Bute family. Cardiff’s past history as one of the world’s great coal exporting ports and this was primarily the responsibility of 2nd Marquess of Bute. The castle was gifted along with a lot of its parkland to the city of Cardiff after the death of the 4th Marquess of Bute. The castle is also home to the National College of Music and drama and it is still one of Wales’s most popular visitor attractions.
