Cawdor Castle is a 14th century castle and was constructed a private fortress for Thanes of Cawdor. The castle is located in Nairnshire, Scotland and it is built as a 15th century tower house with other additional structures constructed in latter centuries. This castle was originally the property of the Calder family and it was passed on to the Campbell family during the 16th century and it still remains in Campbell ownership to this day. William Shakespeare’s literary play ‘Macbeth where the title character is made “Thane of Cawdor” however the castle itself was not mentioned in Macbeth with the story being fictionalised.

The castle is also a category A listed building and has an excellent showcasing of gardens on site which include a Walled Gardens which was planted on the 17th century and a Flower Garden in the 18th century. In addition, to this the Wild Garden was added in the 1960s which includes over 100 species.
