The unique setting of this impressive links with the splendid panoramic views of Howth Head and across Dublin Bay to the Wicklow Mountains, ensures a relaxing and enjoyable game. St. Anne's borders Royal Dublin to the north, with a par of 71. This includes three par fives and four par threes, many with tricky plateau greens. The majority of the holes are true links (there are four parkland-type holes on the back nine). As with most links courses, wind conditions can be a major factor in how the course is played.

In 2003 an extensive redevelopment of the course was completed. Also that year the new state-of-the-art clubhouse was opened.
