Your trip starts at 2:30 pm when you meet your tour director at Cameron House Hotel. It is located 20 miles from Glasgow Airport so ensure that you have appropriate transfer arrangements. Take a short cruise on Loch Lomond and meet your tour director for a welcome drink. (D)
Take a short ferry ride to the Isle of Bute to tour Mount Stuart House, built in the late 1870’s. Take a walk through the gardens and spend some time in Rothesay, the main town on the island. Return to your hotel to relax before dinner. (B, D)
Travel through the Trossachs, often called the “Highlands in Miniature” and stop in Callander. Look around the town of Dunkeld with its wellpreserved 18th century buildings. Head to your manor house hotel in Royal Deeside. (B, D)
Drive along Royal Deeside today. This lovely valley was made popular by Queen Victoria. Visit Royal Lochnagar Distillery to see how whisky is distilled and enjoy a sample. In Ballater view the many shops which the Royal Family patronizes. Enjoy a garden tour at Crathes Castle followed by tea and scones. (B, D)
Tour Glamis Castle, the legendary setting of “Macbeth” and childhood home of the late Queen Mother and enjoy coffee and shortbread. Head to St Andrews, the “Home of Golf.” See the famous Royal and Ancient Clubhouse and the Old Course and browse in the specialty golf stores or through the medieval town. Continue into Edinburgh for a lively Scottish Evening. (B, D)
This morning explore Edinburgh on a sightseeing tour. Compare the Georgian “New Town” with the narrow lanes and medieval townhouses along the Royal Mile. Finish your tour at Edinburgh Castle. On August 6 to 20 departures, seats are reserved for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. (B)
