Your tour begins in Dublin where we pay a visit to the National Museum of Decorative Arts. Here you can catch a glimpse of how Irish people in the past lived through their clothing and textiles. The next day in Dublin we will have a ‘knitting with wire’ workshop and you will be introduced to Tunisian crochet with one of our expert designers. Leaving Dublin, we will head for Connemara in the West of Ireland. Connemara is characterised by coastal coves and bays, fishing villages and by its vast expanse of mountainous scenery. Before we leave Galway we will enjoy a knitting workshop with Anne O’Maille of Ó'Máilles of Galway. Established in 1938, this shop became famous in the 1950s for outfitting the entire cast of the film The Quiet Man. The next two days of your trip will be spent on Inis Oirr (Inisheer), one of the famous Aran Islands located at the mouth of Galway Bay. You will enjoy knitting and dyeing workshops and learn the traditional methods and stitches the Aran Island way! Your time on the islands will include sightseeing and even a bit of Irish music and dance! The next part of the tour takes place in the south of Ireland where we visit the famous Ring of Kerry with its stunning ocean vistas and we will enjoy a knitting workshop with Carol Feller and Liz Spillane. Return to Dublin via the famous Blarney Castle where legend has it if you kiss the stone you will never be lost for words and have as the Irish say, ‘the gift of the gab’!
On arrival at Dublin Airport meet with your experienced Irish driver/guide who will transfer you into Dublin city and for a panoramic tour of Ireland’s capital city including visits to Trinity College Library and the Book of Kells exhibition before enjoying some time shopping around the famous Grafton Street area. Following lunch (not included) you and your group will travel across the country to the vibrant city of Galway where, after a short panoramic tour, there will be some free time for independent sightseeing and shopping before checking into your hotel on the outskirts of the city. Overnight Galway, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast included.
Your bus tour today takes you to some of Ireland’s most famous scenic area including Connemara National Park and the marvellous Kylemore Abbey, once a castle but now home to the Benedictine Nuns of Ireland. There will also be a visit to the Connemara Marble Visitor Centre. Overnight Galway, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast included.
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and head south, stopping first at one of Ireland’s natural wonders, the Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs rise to over 700 feet along a five mile stretch of the Clare/Atlantic coastline and the views from the cliffs are just magnificent. The group continues then to one of Ireland’s most complete castles, the 15th century Bunratty Castle. Within the grounds of the castle is a reconstructed 19th century village that depicts life in those times. After the visit travel to what is considered as one of Ireland’s prettiest villages, Adare, before you continue to the popular town of Killarney. This morning after breakfast you will be collected by jaunting car (horse & carriage) and taken on a magical trip through Killarney National Park to Ross Castle, a 15th century stronghold built by one of the O’Donoghue Ross chieftains where your bus will take you on the 100 mile Ring of Kerry. During the tour you will travel through the colourful towns of Sneem, Waterville - one of Charlie Chaplin’s favourite spots - and enjoy the magnificent views from Molls Gap & Ladies View. On your return to Killarney there will be the opportunity to explore this town, hire a bike or just relax. Overnight Killarney, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast included.
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and commence your journey back to Dublin. Stop at Blarney Castle, famed for its Stone of Eloquence that is said to grant the Gift of the Gab to those that kiss it. There will be time to visit the Blarney Woollen Mills that stock many Irish made goods. Then continue to the iconic Rock of Cashel, a spectacular group of medieval buildings set on an outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale including the 12th century round tower, High Cross and Romanesque Chapel, 13th century Gothic cathedral, 15th century Castle and the restored Hall of the Vicars Choral. This evening enjoy an Irish Night that includes a typical Irish dinner followed by a show of traditional Irish music, song and dance. Overnight Dublin, Bed & Breakfast included
After breakfast enjoys a morning bus tour of the city that will include visits to Christ Church Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the famous Guinness Storehouse. The remainder of the day will be free for independent sightseeing, shopping and dining. Overnight Dublin, Bed & Breakfast included.
