There is no question that the imagery of the West of Ireland will forever be imprinted on your mind after your visit to this dramatic landscape, with its rugged mountains, freshwater lakes and unspoilt miles of coastline and pristine sandy beaches.
When you picture yourself crossing bogs where ponies roam and rare heathers bloom; when you picture yourself conquering the summit of Errisbeg Hill or when you picture yourself strolling along a 5 mile stretch of beach and all the while, be it bogland, mountain, hill or shore, the only footprints that you see are your own.
What is hard to imagine is not that these places exist, but that they exist in the midst of warm and friendly communities. In the West of Ireland where the Gaelic culture thrives and half the population still speaks Irish as its first language, it is the people that might distract you from the wonderful sights to be seen. By day enjoy the magnificent scenery including, The Cliffs of Moher, The Aran Islands, Killary Harbour and the stark Burren Landscape of County Clare. By night rest your weary bones by a roaring turf fire, accompanied by superb traditional Irish music in one of a myriad of welcoming pubs. Galway City, the festival capital of the country awaits with its famous Horse Racing, Art and Oyster festivals to name but a few. Experience the true essence of Ireland - Way out West.
On arrival at Dublin Airport meet with your experienced Irish driver/guide who will transfer you into Dublin city and for a panoramic tour of Ireland’s capital city including visits to Trinity College Library and the Book of Kells exhibition before enjoying some time shopping around the famous Grafton Street area. Following lunch (not included) you and your group will travel across the country to the vibrant city of Galway where, after a short panoramic tour, there will be some free time for independent sightseeing and shopping before checking into your hotel on the outskirts of the city. Overnight Galway, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast included.
Your bus tour today takes you to some of Ireland’s most famous scenic area including Connemara National Park and the marvellous Kylemore Abbey, once a castle but now home to the Benedictine Nuns of Ireland. Check out of your hotel after breakfast and head south, stopping first at one of Ireland’s natural wonders, the Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs rise to over 700 feet along a five mile stretch of the Clare/Atlantic coastline and the views from the cliffs are just magnificent. The group continues then to one of Ireland’s most complete castles, the 15th century Bunratty Castle. Within the grounds of the castle is a reconstructed 19th century village that depicts life in those times. After the visit travel to what is considered as one of Ireland’s prettiest villages, Adare, before you continue to the popular town of Killarney. Overnight Killarney, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast included.
This morning after breakfast you will be collected by jaunting car (horse & carriage) and taken on a magical trip through Killarney National Park to Ross Castle, a 15th century stronghold built by one of the O’Donoghue Ross chieftains where your bus will take you on the 100 mile Ring of Kerry. During the tour you will travel through the colourful towns of Sneem, Waterville - one of Charlie Chaplin’s favourite spots - and enjoy the magnificent views from Molls Gap & Ladies View. On your return to Killarney there will be the opportunity to explore this town, hire a bike or just relax. Overnight Killarney, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast included.
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and commence your journey back to Dublin. Stop at Blarney Castle, famed for its Stone of Eloquence that is said to grant the Gift of the Gab to those that kiss it. There will be time to visit the Blarney Woollen Mills that stock many Irish made goods. Then continue to the iconic Rock of Cashel, a spectacular group of medieval buildings set on an outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale including the 12th century round tower, High Cross and Romanesque Chapel, 13th century Gothic cathedral, 15th century Castle and the restored Hall of the Vicars Choral.
